Abstract
The paper is an historical review of the development of gas discharge tubes. The material is divided into five classifications based on discharge types, namely: 1) Ionization tubes, 2) Cold-cathode discharge tubes, 3) Hot-cathode arc discharge tubes, 4) Liquid metal arc tubes, and 5) Plasma tubes. Keywords
