Abstract

A molecular ion (H

{Br}^{+}

) has been observed for the first time by laser magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Pure rotational transitions have been detected with five different far-infrared laser lines. Assignment of the hyperfine patterns has produced values for the magnetic hyperfine constants.
