Abstract
Scaffolding for high-rise concrete construction: a French, German and UK comparison D. G. Proverbs, BSc(Hons), G. D. Holt, BSc (Hons), PhD, and P. O. Olomolaiye, BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD, MCIB An international investigation concerning selection of scaffolding systems for a seven-storey in situ concrete-framed building, by contractors' planning engineers in France, Germany and the UK is presented. Findings indicate that preferred methods differ significantly in each international location. Traditional tube-and-fitting scaffolds dominate high-rise in situ concrete construction, although contractors (depending on their nationality) will also frequently utilize proprietary systems (British firms), or designed solutions (German firms)...
