Abstract
The temperature of melting Tf for most metals can be related to bond distance d, the number of electrons per atom (V) in an sp, sd, or sf band, and electron interactions through a parameter K3≡Tfd2/V. The value of this parameter varies systematically with the quantum states of the elements or their positions in the periodic table. Keywords
