The so-called cis–trans isomerism of the compound Fepy4(NCS)2

Abstract
The properties of the yellow compound Fepy4(NCS)2 and of its so-called “black isomer” have been examined by a variety of physical methods. We conclude that the yellow form has a trans configuration, but that the “black” modification is really the yellow form containing a small, and probably variable, amount of some iron(III) derivative. Some properties of the complex Fepy3(NCS)3 are reported.
