Astiban therapy of urinary schistosomiasis: a quantitative evaluation

Abstract
Seventeen Egyptian male patients infected with Schistosoma haematobium were treated with Astiban at a dosage of 8 mgn./kgn. body weight/dose given intramuscularly twice weekly for 5 injections. Bell''s egg-count technique was used to evaluate the therapeutic results quantitatively. Three months after treatment there was a 90% reduction in egg excretion, a therapeutic result that conforms closely to Bell''s results in the treatment of S. mansoni in East Africa.
