Abstract
A simple method for the separation of gamma globulin from serum consists of passage of the serum, equilibrated with 0.0175 M PO4, pH 6.3, over diethylaminoethyl-cellulose columns. Under these conditions all serum proteins except gamma globulin are bound to the column. The pure gamma globulin is obtained in the material washed through the column. When the method was applied to a number of antisera against different infectious agents, the antibody was all found in the gamma globulin fracion. The procedure is recommended for fluorescent antibody work, and for removal of nonspecific viral or bacteria inhibitors from antisera. Keywords
