A HISTOLOGICAL STUDY OF THE ARTERIOLES OF THE MUSCLE AND SKIN FROM THE ARM AND LEG IN INDIVIDUALS WITH COARCTATION OF THE AORTA

Abstract
In biopsy material from 5 young adults in whom the resting arterial blood pressure was 169/93 in the arm and 99/65 in the leg (on exercise or with emotion this difference was accentuated), the small vessels taken from the arm were histologically normal and similar to those from the leg in appearance and in calculated ratios of thickness of lumen to thickness of wall.
