In this preliminary study of the Guelb Tenoumer, the authors determine the distribution of the lavas and their nature: they are not basalts as might be supposed from their appearance, but rhyodacites. No fact can at present support the hypothesis of a meteoritic or explosive origin of this crater which the authors consider as a collapse caldera, apparently of a type with ring-dikes.
