Abstract
THE use of platelet transfusions has been limited by the failure to preserve platelets by conventional storage technics. Preparation of fresh platelet concentrates on a "demand" basis is burdensome for any blood bank that is not involved in supporting a large leukemia service, where there would be constant need for platelet transfusions, permitting integration of the platelet program into the daily routine.A system is available for blood-component separation using whole blood collected in ACD NIH Formula A (ACDA).1 The basic principle of this system involves the addition of ACD B solution to platelet-rich plasma that has been derived from . . .Keywords
