Abstract
The exchange interaction and force acting between magnetic moments of a ferromagnetic sample and tip are calculated using the one-dimensional electron-gas model. It is suggested from an estimate of their magnitudes that an atomic-resolution image of exchange interaction of the transition-metal sample and tip can be obtained with the use of atomic force microscopy (AFM).Keywords
