Abstract
A differential fluorescence-staining of malignant and normal tissue by protoporphyrin III has been attributed to the presence of a phospholipid (malignolipin) in neoplasms. The transient phenomenon is explicable on the presence of nonspecific materials which influence the light sensitivity of protoporphyrin and does not demand a new specific cell component in explanation.
