Abstract
Eleven young dogs from 2 litters were fed from weaning for 20 weeks a purified diet known to produce optimum growth. Vit. B12 at 5[mu]g. % or aureomycin at 10 mg. % or both were added to the diet for some of the dogs. N retention and nitrogenous blood constituents remained unchanged in all groups but 6 of the 9 dogs which received the aureomycin and/or vit. Bj2 gained more wt. than the others. These dogs had greater empty carcass wts., lower specific gravity, more carcass fat and more fat-rich adipose tissue than the others. The increased wt. gains were ascribed to increased fat deposition. Keywords
