Studier Av Psykiatrisk Vård, Särskilt Tvångsvård, I Två Svenska Län Erfarenheter Och Attityder Hos Samverkande Vårdgivare

Abstract
For the care of the mentally ill it is required that psychiatry works together with primary health care and social services. A postal questionnaire was sent to about 600 general practitioners, district nurses, and social workers in two Swedish counties; 86% of them replied. Of those who answered, 95% had been in contact with psychiatry. Practically all of them considered compulsory care necessary. Strong critical points of view were held against the way in which psychiatry solves its task and accepts its responsibility. The criticism was especially strong in the county characterized by psychiatric care with small resources and emphasis on outpatient care. The criticism was also stronger from the social workers than from the primary health care staff. The criticism concerned above all the psychiatric care of traditional psychiatric patients - that is, those with delusions and schizophrenia.
