Aboveground Biomass of Black Spruce Stands in Subarctic Quebec

Abstract
Aboveground biomass and tree density data are presented for three spruce–lichen woodland and three spruce–moss forest sites (Piceamariana dominant). Based on regressions of oven-dry weight on diameter breast height, spruce biomass values of 10 000–29 000 and 78 000–163 300 kg•ha−1 were obtained from the woodland and forest sites, respectively. Tree densities ranged from 1270 to 3080 and 4840 to 5350 per hectare for the two associations.
