A STUDY OF THE BULBO-SPINAL REFLEXES IN DOGS AND CATS UNDER BARBITAL ANESTHESIA

Abstract
Barbital-Na in intermuscular doses of 0.27 gm. per kgm. induced in dogs and cats surgical anesthesia in 20-40 min., but caused little or no depression of bulbo-spinal reflexes, giving superior preparations for the study of such reflexes. Blood pressure and body temp. remained normal and the onset of spinal shock, following transection of the cord, was delayed.
