Resonant Brillouin scattering in cadmium telluride

Abstract
We present polariton-mediated resonant Brillouin measurements for CdTe at 10 K. The observed scattering frequencies are interpreted with the polariton dispersion of that material. From the measurement reliable values of the edge exciton parameters are obtained. The observed relative intensities and polarization selection rules are discussed on the basis of the deformation potential and Fröhlich electron-phonon interaction. The spectral dependence of these intensities is compared with calculated values.
