The Family Caring Unit: A Major Consideration in the Long-term Support System

Abstract
Major commitments are being made through Health Systems Agencies (HSAs) for long-term care capital construction based on formulas used for acute care planning. This study is an attempt to provide new data for long-term care planning which will identify the variables which govern the institutional or community placement of the functionally disabled elderly. Living arrangements emerge as a key variable. This data must be included in planning for a long-term care support system.
