The author leached igneous and sedimentary rocks under natural and under aseptic conditions and noted the increased salinity and dissolved mineral substances in the leachings. The total analyzed constituents were 53 % greater for the preparations containing bacteria than for those leached under aseptic conditions. There is a discussion of the nature of the reactions involved.
