Versagen der Wärmeregulation bei alten Tieren

Abstract
The rectal temperature of 96 male rats decreased with age from 3 to 28 months. Young rats showed less decrease of body temperature than old ones when kept at temperatures of -0.5 to -14[degree]C for 1 hour. When kept at 38[degree]C young animals showed less increase in body temperature than old ones. These results did not correlate with body weight, and it was-concluded, therefore, that the central mechanism for heat regulation is disturbed and the capacity for adaptation is less in old animals.
