Abstract
Germanosilicate thin films of varied composition are fabricated by using the solgel technique. Raman spectra, collected normal to the propagation direction in these planar waveguides, reveal vibrational behavior consistent with bulk glasses produced either from the melt or through vapor-assisted-deposition processes. This initial investigation demonstrates the feasibility of germanosilicate planar guides produced by using the solgel process. Keywords
