Abstract
A C program for the computation of the run length distribution and average run length of X̄ charts with unknown process variance is presented. The integrals for the run length distribution and average run length are computed numerically using Gaussian quadrature and Gauss-Laguerre weighting functions. The program also gives the run length distribution and average run length of X̄ charts with control limits based on a method presented by Hillier for the unknown variance case. Keywords
