A Mild and Efficient Oxidation of Alcohols to Carbonyl Compounds by Periodic Acid Catalyzed by 2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxyl

Abstract

Numerous alcohols are effectively oxidized to corresponding aldehydes and ketones with H₅IO₆-TEMPO. The rate of oxidation parallels decreasing α-C-H bond dissociation energy, that is secondary alcohols react faster than primary alcohols.
