SARCOIDOSIS IN A BEAUTICIAN

Abstract
A report is presented of a case of transient pulmonary infiltrations and mediastinal lympha-denopathy in a young beautician with a history of heavy exposure to hair sprays. A diagnosis of sarcoidosis was made and was confirmed by a lung biopsy. The disease regressed after approximately 1 year. Routine chest roentgenograms on 115 beauticians revealed no pulmonary lesions. An analysis of the questionable existence of thesaurosis as a clinical entity caused by inhalation of hair sprays is presented.
