SEPARATION CHROMATOGRAPHIQUE DES SULFATES ET DES GLYCURONIDES DE STEROIDES URINAIRES

Abstract
By a new method, using alumina column chromatography, for separation and purification, the authors examined the urine of 3 patients given dehydroepiandrosterone and etiocholanolone orally. The former was excreted as dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (75%) and as androsterone and etiocholanolone glucuronides (25%). No non-ketonic steroids were found. Androsterone was excreted mainly as androsterone sulfate and unidentified alcoholic steroid sulfates. Pure conjugated steroids can be prepared by this method when free steroids are administered to children. The separation of other conjugated steroids and the study of metabolism are also possible.
