Continuous Measurement of Po2, Pco2and pH in Blood

A new measuring system, based on commercially available equipment for continuous measuring of Po₂, Pco₂ and pH in blood, is described. A small extracorporeal circulation, where the blood is passing through a measuring chamber containing the electrodes is used. The output from the electrodes is via measuring instruments recorded with a dot-recorder. The measured results agree well with the results from ordinary electrode assemblies. The system has been very useful in animal experiments, especially as a control during extracorporeal circulation.
