Abstract
The Brueckner-Goldstone many-body perturbation theory is utilized to study the hyperfine interaction in atomic phosphorus. By this method, a correlation contribution to the hfs constant of a positive sign and an appropriate magnitude is obtained, which predominates over the negative core-polarization effect to produce substantial agreement with experiment.Keywords
