Abstract
Purified avian myeloblastosis virus (AMV) polymerase consisting of .alpha.,.beta. subunits acted processively in catalyzing DNA synthesis primed with 34S AMV RNA.cntdot.oligo(dT), poly(A).cntdot.poly(dT) and poly(I).cntdot.poly(dC). DNA transcripts prepared with 34S AMV RNA.cntdot.oligo(dT)14 and AMV polymerase (.alpha..beta.) had a MW of 1.05 .times. 106, or approximately 1/3 the size of the 34S RNA genome. Polymerase subunit .alpha. acts nonprocessively with the above templates.
