Abstract
Presentation of CaseA forty-three-year-old woman entered the hospital because of mental confusion.One year previously she was admitted to another hospital for eleven days because of a "nervous breakdown." Examination of the blood at that time revealed a hemoglobin of 10.5 gm. per 100 ml. and a white-cell count of 13,000, with 78 per cent neutrophils. The urea nitrogen was 17.3 mg. per 100 ml., and the icteric index was 7.5 units. The blood Wassermann test was negative, as was a Graham test.
