Abstract
DISSEMINATED gonococcal infection is being recognized increasingly often and may occur with characteristic skin lesions, tenosynovitis or acute septic arthritis.1 Currently accepted therapy includes hospitalization and treatment for 10 to 14 days with parenterally administered antibiotics. However, the minimal duration for effective therapy has not been well defined. The present study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of short-term high-dose antibiotic therapy in disseminated gonococcal infection.MethodsClinical EvaluationAll adult patients admitted to Parkland Memorial Hospital from October, 1972, to August, 1973, with a suspected diagnosis of disseminated gonococcal infection were seen shortly after hospitalization by one of . . .Keywords
