Abstract
Descriptions are given of 14 species of Microascus. M. pyramidus Barron and Gilman is described as a new species and M. trigonosporus var. macrosporus Orr as a new variety. The conidial stage and cultural characteristics are described for most of the species. The genus Microascus is separated from Petriella on the basis of the smaller, lighter-colored ascospores as well as the type of conidia. Most of the species have a Scopulariopsis-type of conidial stage. M. variabilis Massee and Salmon is placed in synonomy under M. longirostris Zukal. Microascus stysanophorus (Matt.) comb. nov. is proposed. Keywords
