Arterial Reconstruction of the Lower Limbs Using Stabilized Umbilical Vein

Abstract

Patients (43) underwent femoropopliteal bypass grafting with stabilized umbilical vein for limb salvage or severely disabling claudication. The reported patency rate of 78% at 2 yr suggests that stabilized umbilical vein is a satisfactory replacement when the saphenous vein is unavailable. Whether or not it is as satisfactory as saphenous vein has yet to be determined.
