Abstract
The time of hypnosis in mice due to pentobarbital Na was increased by 11 surface active agents. The same effect was produced by one of these agents in rats and rabbits but not in dogs. The duration of hypnosis due to pentothal Na in mice was increased by some surface active agents, and the mechanism was shown to be a decreased rate of destruction. The duration of hypnosis due to barbital Na was not increased but the onset of hypnosis was earlier in mice, rabbits, and dogs but not in rats. Keywords
