Abstract
The probability density at the nucleus of a metallic lithium conduction electron on the Fermi surface is calculated in the spherical approximation, giving the value atomic unit. This is in good agreement with measurements of the nuclear magnetic resonance shift discovered by Knight and with recent determinations by Schumacher, Carver, and Slichter of the paramagnetic susceptibility.
