195Pt NMR Study of Heavy Fermion Superconductor UPt3

Abstract
195Pt NMR in UPt3 in both normal and superconducting state has been observed. The spectrum has large negative shift and is quite anisotropic. In 4.5kOe, the negative shift does not change down to the lowest temperature 85mK. This means that the conduction electron spin susceptibility does not decrease in the superconducting state. The result does not contradict the possibility of anisotropic p-wave superconductivity of UPt3. The nuclear spin lattice relaxation rate, T1 -1 is proportional to T (T1 T=980µ secK) in 0.5-4.2K range indicating the Fermi liquid nature of the system in this temperature range.
