Abstract
The importance of measuring serum inorganic P in the differential diagnosis of neonatal distress is pointed out. Three cases of newborn tetany are descr.; the cases of 3 newborns with symptomatology other than tetany are reported. Autopsy findings on 8 newborn with parathyroid hyperplasia and on 8 newborns and 5 older children with normal parathyroid glands were studied for dietary causes of death.
