Abstract
Patients (41) with chronic interstitial cystitis were studied. Histological examination of bladder lesions revealed mucosal ulceration, pancystitis and perineural inflammatory infiltrates. Perineural cell infiltration is related probably to the characteristic symptoms of the disease. A search for a viral etiology, particularly herpes simplex virus, rendered negative results. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
