Mammalian fucosidases. 1. The synthesis of substrates and inhibitors

Abstract

The [alpha]- and [beta]-D- and L-fucosides of p-nitrophenol have been prepared as substrates for enzyme studies, by using the Helferich reaction for the a- and the Koenings-Knorr reaction for the [beta]-com-pounds. The corresponding aldonolactones have also been made.
