Delayed hypersensitivity in the fowl, Turkey and Quail

Abstract
Reactions to intradermally injected antigens in various sites in sensitised fowls fulfil the criteria for delayed hypersensitivity. Histologically, reactions in the turkey and quail were similar to those seen in the fowl. The turkey and quail appeared to be less reactive than the chicken, and, in the case of the quail, the reactions were not detectable macroscopically except in the anal site. The gross appearance in the chicken and turkey differed from that reported for guinea‐pigs and rabbits but resembled the descriptions of reactions of rats and mice. The relative merits of the different sites used are discussed.
