Abstract
In experiments conducted during 1959 and 1960 sprays of polyhedrosis virus suspensions were found to be highly effective for control of the cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni (Hbn.). Dipping of cauliflower seedlings in a dilute suspension of virus material gave a measure of protection, but did not prevent economic damage to the growing plants. Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner used as a spray or dip was markedly inferior to the virus. Economical and effective control of the cabbage looper by commercial application of virus sprays is indicated.
