Energy-Momentum Tensors and Scale Invariance in the Thirring Model

Abstract

It is shown that in the Thirring model the Sugawara form of the energy-momentum tensor $T_{S^{\mu \nu }}$, is a more natural choice than the usual form in terms of canonical fields, $T_{C^{\mu \nu }}$, in the sense that $\int x_{\mu }{T}_{S^{\mu 0}}\mathrm{}\left(x\right)d{x}^1$ is the generator of scale transformations which leave the solution of the model invariant.
