Pulmonary Cryptococcosis

Abstract
Six previously unreported patients with pulmonary cryptococcosis were reported. Amphotericin-B was not used. Two of the patients were followed for more than 10 years. Two others for more than 6 years. All remained well. The degree and nature of toxicity to amphotericin-B makes the routine use uncertain. Pulmonary cryptococcosis will be recognized more frequently as better diagnostic methods become available, and the concept that nearly all result in meningitis may be changed. The experience with these 6 patients indicates that the routine use of amphotericin-B is not necessary.
