Abstract
Measurement of the spin-flip probability with a polarized proton beam leads to a straightforward determination of both polarization () and analyzing power () in inelastic scattering at analog resonances. Calculations including direct-reaction background indicate that is insensitive to precise values of background parameters but quite sensitive to the configuration assumed for the analog state.
