Abstract
It is shown that ac electric fields can produce orientational oscillations in nematic liquid crystals. The oscillations are observed in thin sandwich cells and probably due to parametric excitation. They are associated with a strong electro‐optic effect, similar to dynamic scattering, but with faster turn‐off times (< 5 msec). Keywords
