Abstract
The R.Q. in P. carolinensis varied directly with the temp., from 0.45 at 10[degree]C. to 0.94 at 30[degree]C. Respiration was inhibited by KCN (10-4M) and the degree of inhibition varied directly with the temp. A cytochrome-cytochrome oxidase system seems to be the mechanism chiefly involved in oxidation of carbohydrate in Pelomyxa and, as carbohydrate metabolism is reduced, this mechanism becomes less active. Keywords
