Abstract
To date only 9 culture-proven cases of herpes simplex virus type 2 meningitis have been recorded. Presented here is the 10th case [human] with a review of the literature. Although generally a benign disease, its recognition in association with herpes progenitalis must be appreciated to avoid confusion in the treatment of this common venereal disease.
