Observations on the Antiglobulin Tests

Abstract
This paper describes anti-C4b [b fragment of the 4th complement component] antisera which agglutinate [human] cells from cases of autoimmune hemolytic anemia, cold-acquired hemolytic anemia and certain test cells using the antiglobulin test. These particular antisera possess activity against C4d absorbed on erythrocytes. Methods of preparing test cells coated with C3d and C4d are given, together with methods for producing antisera in rabbits active against these components. The significance of these findings is stressed.
