Abstract
This article highlights some recent developments in the field of ultrafast phenomena as an introduction to this special issue of the Journal of Modern Optics devoted to the topic. The chosen perspective focuses on the progress being made in ultrashort laser pulse generation and the application of this technology in probing advanced semiconductors and devices on picosecond and femtosecond timescales.Keywords
