Abstract
Rats depleted of body K by a diet low in K or by preoperative inj. of desoxycorticosterone acetate survived nephrectomy or ureteral ligation longer than rats on a normal diet. This phenomenon was accompanied by a delay in the rise of serum K to toxic levels. This delay in rise of serum K is explained by an increase in muscle K from abnormally low values towards normal values. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
