Abstract
The effect of induced synthesis of enzyme on the composition of the free amino acid pool of yeast was studied. The formation of maltozymase induced by alpha-methyl-glucoside, a non-utilizable analog, was the system employed. It was possible to demonstrate a net increase in utilization of internal free amino acids as a result of induction of enzymatic synthesis in resting cells suspended in a N-free medium. The data offer further evidence that induced enzymes are synthesized from free amino acids. Keywords
